The Training Journey

On joining the company, new staff receive a comprehensive induction training programme.  This initial 2 day induction programme has been developed in accordance with the NISCC induction standards and learning outcomes for Social Care workers as well as meeting the HSE tender requirements.

Months 1 - 3

Once induction is completed, care staff commence a structured mentoring and shadowing programme.  During the first 3 months of employment new staff will shadow a team member to allow 'on the job' training to continue

Months 3 - 6

After 3 months shadowing, the Care Assistants should be allocated their own clients. This, together with the completion of the NISCC Induction Workbook, will lead to full sign off at the end of the 6 months

Post 6 Months

New Care staff, on successful completion of their 6 months probationary period, will be given the opportunity to commence the Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care at a reduced rate

Our training has 3 intake periods in the year (September, January and March) allowing existing staff apply to complete the Diploma in Health and Social Care registering their interest through an 'Expression of Interest' process. (Care staff with over 2 years' service are being given the opportunity to complete the QCF Diploma in Health & Social Care free of charge)
